Haryana Approves Area Norms for Educational Facilities

The Haryana Government has approved composite area norms for educational facilities in licenced colonies as well as for change of land use cases so that uniform norms could be followed for educational institutions in the residential colonies.

Stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the area for creche and nursery school should be 0.2 acres and for primary school, B.Ed. or M.Ed. or D.Ed. or JBT institution, it should be one acre. The area for MBA and MCA institution should be 1.25 acres.

The area for middle school should be two acres and for Pharmacy College, Hotel Management and Catering Technology and applied Arts and Crafts, it should be 2.5 acres, he said, adding that the area for setting up of high or higher secondary school with residential facility, architecture college and Polytechnic college had been fixed at five acres and for college or Engineering and Technology College, it had been fixed at ten acres.

For setting up a medical college with hospital, he said, the area should be 25 acres.

The area norms for remaining community sites would be as laid down in letter number 20028 dated November 24,1988, he added.
